Two years ago, T-Mobile and Orange merged in the UK to make the country’s biggest mobile network – Everything Everywhere. This was obviously a very exciting time for the company and meant huge opportunities from a revenue perspective. As the person leading the revenue assurance team, it also introduced a new challenge that needed to be met with as much gusto as we could muster!
Between the two companies, we were working with three different revenue assurance vendors at the time of the merger. The first challenge was therefore picking one platform that could meet our requirements across the board. As many of you will know, that involves much more than just matching a platform’s capabilities to requirements.
Among the shortlisted vendors was WeDo Technologies, a company that had been successfully providing revenue assurance services to the business already. So just to further explore the Wedo solution I went to my first user group in May 2012.
As soon as I arrived, I knew there was something special about this event. The product roadmap presented by the WeDo Technologies team was very impressive, but what really struck me was the atmosphere they had managed to create. There was a real sense of community at this event. Operators of all shapes, sizes and levels of maturity were being completely open about their own experiences and how they were using the RAID platform to meet their own needs. I soon realised that this was a reflection of the way the WeDo Technologies team works. They were completely upfront about what the RAID platform could and couldn’t do now and what they hoped it would do in the future. There was no hidden agenda and it didn’t feel like a sales tool at all. The event really does have the Midas touch.
Following the event, the ‘case studies’ I managed to collate, as well as the product roadmap presented by WeDo Technologies meant I had all the tools I needed to make the business case to implement the modules in the RAID suite that we needed most at the time. I am looking forward to my third consecutive year attending the WWUG. This year I’m particularly excited to talk to contacts made at previous events to see how they are doing as their businesses mature. For anyone else who is thinking about going, I would recommend getting off that fence and booking your place. Whatever your size, this event has something for everyone and provides a unique opportunity to learn from your peers in a relaxed environment. Plus Portugal really is lovely in May!
