TMForum_Steve_CottonSurveys come our way all the time, and many of them seem to serve the needs of the one soliciting the response more than the needs of the respondent.  TM Forum has conducted a global survey of Revenue Assurance practices and situation for three years, in multiple languages, and we are encouraging broad and deep response.  This posting will try to help respondents understand why their needs will be well-served by responding.

TM Forum has designated their annual Americas event as “Digital Disruption 2013” for good reason — the “tectonic” shifts in the industry, the relationships among the engaged parties, and the age of customer dominance have all converged, making Revenue Assurance even more critical in securing sustainable returns for shareholders and thereby a viable enterprise.

The entire Enterprise Risk Management area of TM Forum’s activities is coming into play, with such topics as Fraud Management holding an equally-critical role in margin assurance.  The current Revenue Assurance survey (and an upcoming Fraud Management survey) is focused on the shifting emphasis of current practices to forward-looking practices, all driven by these various factors in play today in the industry.  Indeed, both the Revenue Assurance Management and Fraud Management teams in TM Forum’s Collaboration Program are immersed in projects to refresh the Maturity Models of both disciplines to reflect this shift.

The surveys being circulated are vital glimpses into the current “state of the practice”, as well as opportunities to raise critical issues as enterprises climb the maturity “staircase” and ask themselves “what next?”.  The results will be used to shape and refine the current project work, with the target being a comprehensive Revenue Management Maturity Model suite for the Digital Services era, useful for both new entrants and maturing enterprises.

I truly believe that our survey is one that serves your needs, so please consider investing some time in completing it.  I am dedicated to ensuring that the results will be thoroughly analyzed and understood, as well as driven into ongoing project work for deliverable/enabling tools going forward.
